V0.04d – War Spells

Added 2 more War school spells: Swift Strike, which is a combat spell that gives a regiment a free attack against the next regiment that attacks it in melee, and Terror, which causes an enemy regiment to flee in terror for a few rounds.

The code handling the terror spell will form the foundation of the morale system which is the next thing to be added to tactical combat.

V0.04c – Bugfix Patch

Fixed a lot of magic system and tactical combat bugs. Also improved the spell casting ui a little bit. I have updated the .NET download link to 4.5, as it is the latest version. At the moment 4.0 will work just fine, but there is little point to installing an old version, when fancy 4.5 has been out for a while.

V0.04b – Tactical Combat Spell Casting

Wizard players can now use spells during tactical combat. Not all spells can be used during combat – at the moment only Lightning Bolt, Chaos Bolt and Berserker Rush can be used this way.

There is a new button on the interface “Cast Spell” – it will bring up a list of spells. Pick one then click on the target. Currently there is no mana cost for tactical spell casting, but there is a cooldown of a couple of turns.

V0.04a – Progress on Magic System

Two new spells and a lot of behind the scenes work on the spell system. Going to start expanding the number of spells, so that all wizard types have something to choose from. Also improved the display of regiment stats, so that unbuffed/buffed stats are shown.

The new spells are: Baleful Strength, a cheap buff which has the unfortunate side-effect of slowly killing people in the regiment – and Berserker Rush, a buff/debuff (bonus to shock and movement, penalty to discipline) which has the unfortunate side-effect of forcing the regiment to rush headlong into battle, even if they are archers or hopelessly outnumbered.

V0.03p – Quests

Hey all, sorry for the insanely long delay between updates. New job is really nice, but it’s taken most of my energy for the last few weeks. But here’s an update finally! Managed to get the quest system fully functional. Random quests are generated and players have a choice of different ones.

There’s a small bug in this release where interactive battles sometimes can’t be ended even though you have won or lost. If you run into that let the AI resolve battles instead. I’ll get a fix done for it asap.

Next up is fleshing out existing systems. Magic, combat, recruiting armies, etc. Game is pretty much at a point where all the core systems are there, they just need to be improved and refined – many times over 🙂

Anyways, sorry to have kept anyone who has been following waiting. Rest assured, this project is not abandoned, and lots of cool stuff is coming.
