V0.05c – Character are now Followers, Tasks

Renamed characters to followers, as I feel it describes better what they actually are. Also tasks have been added. From the 2nd turn onwards, the follower dialog allows you to browse available tasks for your followers. Assignment is not completely functional yet. But it will be soon 🙂 There also seems to be a lot of archery contests going around, and little else. But there will be more things to do. Soon.

V0.05b – Characters

Characters are now added to the game! What characters are these then? Well, they are like heroes in the sense that they are individuals in your employ that you can boss around sending them on various missions, etc. However, they are not quite as formidable as a hero. Your characters can be sent on tasks, for example, a sergeant-at-arms could be tasked with assisting in the training of a regiment, a caravan master could be sent to trade with far away lands, a hunter could be sent to eradicate nasty wildlife threatening one of your settlements, etc.

You can find your characters by clicking the “Characters” item on the top menu bar – next to Quests and Magic. Tasks aren’t implemented yet, so at the moment you can just inspect your loyal followers, see what traits and classes they have, and wonder what fantastic adventures they will be able to have in the next update!

V0.05a – Artificial Intelligence

Finally an updated build! Apologies for the lack of updates, but I kind of soured on the boring 3d work, so I decided to switch to something else for a bit to rekindle my enthusiasm. So I implemented the first version of the AI. There will now be other realms building armies, exploring, conquering, etc.! The AI might not be that smart yet, but there is a really nice framework for building interesting AI-controlled opponents on. The plan is to implement AIs with different personality traits, so you might face a fickle, isolationistic Elven princess, a reckless Barbarian horde bent on conquest and a love of cavalry, a Dwarven king who holds grudges, etc.

Even though you cant see it yet, there is some work done on the 3d tactical view, so if you dont have DirectX installed, stuff might not work, but I think pretty much everyone has that these days.
