Still working towards beta, and as you may have guessed from the lack of updates, progress is not as swift as I would like. Most of this is due to video/graphical work not being my area of expertise, and wanting to get the Greenlight launch at a quality I am happy with.
I do switch a bit back and forth between programming and these other activities, as it’s nice to have constant progress on the game itself, even if it is at a slower pace than it was for most of the year. So October certainly hasn’t been spent entirely on Greenlight/beta preparation.
Most of my development attention is still on the AI and the battle system. I have a ton of feature work and UI polish I’d love to get started on, but I am trying to assert some self-discipline and focus on the Greenlight preparation and the parts of the game most essential to a good beta experience. Being able to get this game onto a platform where people can start playing it, and give their feedback on the experience, is the primary focus, and it pains me a bit to be delayed on delivering it. After the AI and Battle system is in a place I’m happy with for beta game play, I’ll focus on the map and various part of the UI.
So not much meat to this update, but I wanted to reassure those of you following this or new people visiting, that the game is still in development, beta is still close, and there will be more interesting updates as soon as I finish the current slog.
